Paul Pierce June 2015

Paul Pierce plans to decline his $5.5 million player-option with the Washington Wizards, which likely means he'll either bounce or stay with the team and sign a new deal.

However, according to DimeMag, sources say it is becoming more and more clear that Pierce will be heading to Los Angeles and re-uniting with Doc Rivers on the Clippers.

“As I reported as likely to happen a couple of weeks ago, Paul Pierce will opt out of his Wizards contract. The expectation among many around the league remains Pierce will wind up in L.A. with the Clippers.”

Pierce would make almost $2 million less in Los Angeles, but it makes sense why he would do that. Money isn't an issue for Pierce at this stage in his career.

With this scenario, he stays close to where he grew up. In addition, he plays for Rivers again. The Clippers are also NBA Finals contenders, and Pierce can give this team that championship pedigree they've been missing.
