Greg Monroe was looking for a lucrative contract with the Detroit Pistons last year. Instead, the Pistons lowballed and he ended up signing a one-year deal with the team instead.
Monroe will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and many are wondering if he'll stay since he fits well with Stan Van Gundy's offense. Then again, it looks like he could make a ton of money elsewhere in NBA Free Agency.
According to Van Gundy himself, the head coach doesn't believe the Pistons can keep the productive big man.
Stan Van Gundy concedes that the Detroit Pistons are “not entirely optimistic” about bringing Greg Monroe back.
Van Gundy, Detroit’s coach and team president, said the door isn’t closed, but Monroe can test the open market this offseason as an unrestricted free agent.
We'll see what team Monroe lands on this offseason if it's not in Detroit.
