Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown feels the team needs a high-level free agent in order to compete for a championship.

According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, included in the attempt to lure impending free agent LeBron James this summer, the 76ers will pursue swingman Paul George and San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard as well.
The addition of James would drastically close the gap between them and the Boston Celtics in regards to being the Eastern Conference’s team to beat next season. Should they add another A-list player in free agency or via a trade, the Sixers just might be favored to win the 2018-19 NBA title.

But acquiring James alone would be costly.
The Sixers would not be able to acquire all three. In Leonard’s case, the Sixers would have to put together a trade package the Spurs consider acceptable, and would likely also need assurance that Leonard would be open to re-signing in Philadelphia in 2019.
