At least this NBA scout was smart enough to make this statement off the record, just in case Trae Young becomes the next Stephen Curry.

The former Oklahoma Sooners star was one of the best college players in the land, and the darling of NBA executives if you believe all the moving hot takes.

Young could go anywhere from No. 2 to No. 8 in the 2018 NBA Draft, but that didn’t stop one scout from totally removing the point guard from his draft board.
“He could be really damn good, but I could also see him being a backup point guard,” the scout told Sports Illustrated. “I wouldn’t touch him. I’d be the GM where if he becomes a superstar, it’s OK [to pass].”
The scout voiced concerns about Young’s frame and ability to play defense in the NBA, yet praised his vision as a passer and electric shooting abilities. Sounds like a Golden State Warriors point guard and a few other guys around the league.
