Boy, this is a great start to the All-Star weekend! To get this going, the Rookies and Sophomores played a great game. It was the Kentucky teammates, John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins, lighting up the show all night, leading the rookies to a 148-140 victory.Wall was named MVP of the game, getting a record 22-assists. Cousins played great, too, having 33 points and 14 rebounds. It was the second time in a row the rookies won after last season when Tyreke Evans and DeJuan Blair led the rooks to a victory.
"Most people that have a good game here, it gives them confidence going into the second half of the season," Wall said.
The record for most assists was by Chris Paul, who had 17. Wall told Cousins before the game he would break it. And whaddya know, he did.
Wall and Blake Griffin also connected well. The play of the day between these two was where Wall and Griffin were on a fast-break. Wall put up a huge bounce back, which led to an electrifying dunk by potential Rookie-of-the-Year. However, fans complained because they wanted Griffin in towards the end of the game, but he needs to rest in order to get ready for the Dunk contest.
"Whenever you see 32 in a Clippers uniform out of the side, you basically throw it anywhere in the gym," Wall said. "I knew if I bounced it high enough, he will just attack the play."
Cousins had flashbacks after playing with this former teammate.
"I had some flashbacks [to Kentucky]," Cousins said. "It was fun being out there with John. That year didn't last long enough, but it's over now."
Great game for the Rookies.

He may be the most hated musician in the United States, but this kid can ball. Singer, Justin Bieber, took home the MVP honors last night, although his West team lost to the East in a 54-49 defeat. Bieber had eight points, four assists, and two rebounds. Probably my most favorite plays from him was putting up the moves on rapper, Common, probably breaking his ankles, and a big three-pointer towards the end of the game.But it wasn't enough, thanks to East's Scottie Pippen, who led the team with 17 points. In my opinion, Pippen should have been MVP. I mean the guy also had a huge block on Bieber as well. He had 17 points and was balling it up. But I guess they couldn't since the guy is a Hall-of-Famer, and not what you would call a full-on "celebrity" like Bieber is.
Good game none the less.
Maybe once Bieber starts getting that voice deeper of his, he probably will get more appreciated.
But good game for the kid, I guess.
