Drew Brees is coming off an amazing season as he threw for 46 touchdowns with a record 5,476 yards, finishing with a 110.6 rating. The Saints have been in long contract talks with the star quarterbacks, but things still haven't gone through.

Hence, the Saints franchised Brees, which takes a $14.4 million hit on the salary cap. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Brees and the Saints remain over millions of dollars apart.

Hopefully they can get a contract down. According to the source, it seems that Brees is looking for a $23 million contract for the first three years, which would mean that he would be tied with Peyton Manning as the highest-paid player.

I think Brees deserves what's coming to him, especially after that monster season.
