The New York Jets just love to make headlines. Tim Tebow is in and they recently pondered about going on Hard Knocks again this summer. Now they signed a Rugby player.

Yes, folks.

A rugby player.

According to the New York Daily News, they signed Hayden Smith, who is an Australian that played rugby in England. Smith is 6'6" and 265 pounds, so he has good size, which is why New York plans to make him play tight end.

Smith also played college basketball when he lived in US before making the transition to Rugby when he moved to England. Some other basketball players have found success at the tight end position, such as Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates, and Jimmy Graham.

Rugby players have also done the same, but most were special teamers like punters and kickers. This will be a different situation, and it will be fun to watch if Smith were to appear on Hard Knocks.

However, it's not yet confirmed that he's signed yet, but we'll see.
