The Honey Badger is still in high demand, just not in Baton Rouge.

ESPN.com via Joe Schad is reporting that at least 20 schools have inquired about the Heisman Trophy finalist. The university’s vice-chancellor of communications Herb Vincent stated that LSU on grants permission to universities Mathieu has approved.

Vincent would not disclose which school have inquired about Mathieu, even though we know Mathieu did visit McNeese State. Nicholls State officials have stated that have been given permission to speak with Mathieu. Jackson State and Prairie View have been denied availability to speak with him at his request.

Vincent also spoke about Mathieu’s future at LSU.

“We can only state that he is eligible to continue his academic career at LSU and that he will not be a member of the LSU football team for the 2012 season,” Vincent said. “Any other comments on his future at LSU will be made at the appropriate time if necessary.”

The Bednarik winner can have his choice of FCS schools and after going through a grieving process, needs to get reenergized about his future.
