Aldon-Smith-Von-Miller
Von Miller and Aldon Smith have not only affected their respective team’s ability to compete for a championship with their immature actions in the past few months, but they also may have slowed down the timeline for when they can cash in on a big-money extension.

In the wake of Miller being suspended six games for tampering with his drug test, and Smith dealing with alcohol issues, Pro Football Talk is reporting that both players actions have made their teams more reluctant to make a huge financial investment in them after only three seasons.

In contract slang, both Miller and Smith may have to wait for that $75 million contract that J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans, AJ Green of the Cincinnati Bengals and Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers will probably command. Both players are one major slip up away from facing year-long bans in the NFL.

Reports say the San Francisco 49ers will now focus on locking Colin Kaepernick up long-term, and then seeing how Aldon Smith progresses before talking money with him. The Denver Broncos on the other hand, may wait even longer to reward Miller with any type of big money deal.

Miller’s extension may end up being incentive laden and filled with out clauses for the Broncos in the event Von Miller continues to struggle with substance abuse as well.
