Kelan-Martin-Butler
Yeah, so this is a big one, Butler fans. On Monday, news came out that one of Butler's premier targets in the 2014 class, Kelan Martin (Ballard HS; Louisville, KY), became their second commitment.

Martin, a four-star rated recruit by 247Sports, is one of the biggest commits the Bulldogs have received. That could be used to pry an even bigger recruit to the hallowed walls of Hinkle Fieldhouse in Trevon Blueitt (Park Tudor HS; Indianapolis, IN).

Bluiett, a 6'5" small forward who decommited from UCLA on Oct. 3, is still considering Butler. He is also considering the following schools: Xavier, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan and Arizona. Many believe Arizona is out — due to the distance — which is why Bluiett decommited from UCLA in the first place.

With the proximity to home being the main focus here, Butler has a big chance of getting the Park Tudor High School product. Those odds increased with getting Martin into the fold right now. Brandon Miller and the rest of the Bulldogs coaching staff now can focus on getting their big fish and trying to catch him before the early signing period in November.

If you did not know, Bluiett and Martin are good friends. They also played with each other this summer for a short time on Indiana Elite (Martin's AAU team). Now without the worries of this 2014 class being a disappointing one, Bulldog fans can now celebrate a big victory on the recruiting trail.

Martin will bring a skillset that fits perfectly into the Big East: versatility. You could describe his game as being a "tweener", meaning he can play multiple positions on the court. He can overpower small forwards and he can blow by big men. His versatility will make him an immediate contributor for the Bulldogs in the 2014-2015 college basketball season, as he will likely be starting as well.

After watching Martin in-person at the Adidas Invitational, as he manhandled competition on both sides of the floor, I am pretty confident the 'Dawgs just got a major game-changer. Now, with one of Butler's best recruiting wins, they now go for their top prize: Bluiett.

Celebrate this victory, Bulldog fans. It could get even better if the coaching staff seals the deal on the hometown kid.
