adrian peterson january 2014After having an MVP year in 2012 with 2,097 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, Adrian Peterson suffered setback in the 2013 NFL season.

The Minnesota Vikings running back dealt with injuries and was unable to be his 2012 self, finishing with 1,266 yards and 10 touchdowns. Peterson did make the Pro Bowl, but injuries have kept him out of it.

According to USA Today, Peterson may need surgery on his groin. Peterson will meet with Philadelphia-based specialist Dr. William Meyers next week on what action he should take to address the injury. Meyers was the same person who performed Peterson's sports hernia surgery last offseason.

Peterson could definitely use the help, and get back into shape and being healthy. With all of that said, maybe he can chase after Eric Dickerson's record once again.
