Chicago Bears restricted free agent running back Kahlil Bell received his tender today, and as per the Bears team policy, the level he was tendered was not divulged. However it's reported elsewhere that he received the minimum tender of $1.26 million.

Also, RB Marion Barber does not expect to be back with the team, having already moved out of his apartment in Chicago.

Vaughn McClure is reporting that the Bears offered Bell a 2 year deal with about half a million guaranteed. That deal could still be on the table. What happens if a team signs Bell to an offer sheet? Dan Durkin, NFL blogger for 670 The score tweeted me the following;

nothing. they didn't tender him at the 2nd round level. they just get first right of refusal.

From Sean Jensen via the Sun Times;

For about $700,000 more, the Bears could have placed a second-rounder tender on Bell. That way, if another club signed Bell, they'd have to concede a second-round pick.

No team would give up a 2nd rounder for Bell, so that's not even a point worth arguing.

As for the team expected to part ways with Barber, Vaughn McClure says the Bears will likely try to add a speedy RB into the mix in the future. Stay tuned...
